The Parish of Three Saints

Prayer Team

         Prayer & Healing

The prayer team meets monthly with a broad agenda exploring different forms of prayer, the healing ministry, and praying for our parish.  Membership is open to anyone who wants to join.  Members of the team are encouraged to lead the meetings resulting in a number of different approaches.

Prayer is powerful when prayed in faith.  Prayers are always answered although we may sometimes have to wait for an answer and it may not be the one we want.  It may seem like failure when we don’t get what we ask for but it has to be remembered that God knows best, and that the purpose of prayer is to be in conversation with God and God with us, aligning our wills with the will of God (our Creator) and not the other way round!

Through exploring the Ministry of Healing, the Prayer Team have learnt that Jesus never said ‘no’; he never said ‘wait’; and that it is wrong to pray, “If it be thy will, may he/she be returned to health”, for this implies that God might want the person to suffer!  Prayer, to be effective, must be through faith in God’s promises through the death of Jesus on the Cross – therefore, credit for healing belongs to God and God alone.

The Bishop of Taunton has commissioned members of the prayer team to provide a healing ministry and members are available to talk to, in confidence, after our 11.00am worship on the first Sunday of the month, and our 10.00am worship on the second, third and fourth Sundays of the month.
