Our Priest in Charge

Revd Robyn Golden-Hann

Born and raised in Wells, I left Somerset well over 30 years ago to begin training as a stonemason at Weymouth College and eventually worked in Cambridge, Prague and Salisbury on a variety of ecclesiastical restoration projects. Although church buildings had always been part of the landscape of my life, faith came along a little later.

In 2006 I started my own stonemasonry business specialising in bespoke memorials; work that brought me into close contact with the bereaved and it was around the same time I also came to faith. However, just as Simon-Peter was called to leave his boats and nets full of fish (Luke 5:1-11), as my business prospered my calling to ordained ministry grew.

I trained for priesthood at Sarum College in Salisbury and in 2022 closed my business to begin full time ministry as curate at Saint Aldhelm’s church in Poole.

Returning to Somerset now as your Priest-in-Charge feels not only like a special homecoming (especially as I have family nearby) but also as a new adventure; marking the transition from urban to rural ministry and from one parish to three. I do like a challenge… you could say that being outside my comfort zone is my comfort zone!

I enjoy walking and riding my bicycle ‘Bluebell’ (she’s blue and has a bell), reading, playing the guitar and singing, and am something of a ‘Czechophile’; having fallen in love with Czechia during my first trip there back in 1991.

I'm excited about this next chapter in your history as together we seek to create greater bonds between our three parishes, work with the local schools & community and seek to spread the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: for the good of this generation and beyond, and all for the sake of the love of God.
